Giveaway Day 2 : The Southern Living Community Cookbook
If you know me, or followed me previously on my blog Only from Scratch, then you know that cooking is one of my favorite hobbies. It helps that I have a husband who enjoys eating and allows me to be creative in the kitchen.
Over the past six years or so, I’ve discovered that I absolutely love Southern cuisine. Even though I grew up in Virginia, my parents were both from the North, so foods like grits, fried chicken, pimento cheese, Creole, and even sweet tea, weren’t generally found on our table. My husband’s family, and most of his friends, are from South Carolina. Trips to Charleston, living in Georgia for a few years, and now our little stint in Pensacola, have exposed me to the wonder that is true Southern food. I’m hooked.
A few months ago I was sent a new cookbook to review, The Southern Living Community Cookbook, and I have to tell you that this cookbook is incredible. I’ve made many of the recipes and each one has been a hit. Some of our favorites:
Lexington Grilled Chicken, Cream Cheese Banana Bread, Sweet Potato Biscuits, Grits & Grillades (a New Orleans dish), Sausage and Pinto Bean Dip. There hasn’t been one that we didn’t like!
Today, I’m giving away a copy of this cookbook to one of you! Whether or not you’re a lover of Southern food, this cookbook is sure to hold many recipes that you will love. Most are fairly simple, with a few being the type that can challenge you in the kitchen.
This little blog of mine is what you would call a ‘lifestyle blog’, which basically means I will be writing about our life. I cook, we eat, and so from time to time you’ll find our favorite recipes posted here. (Trust me, I’ll only share the ones that we would make again–I don’t want to waste anyone’s time with a so-so recipe just because I want to have another blog post!)
Simply use the Rafflecopter form below to enter for a chance to win a copy of one of my favorite cookbooks!
Giveaway will remain open until next Tuesday!
And, if you missed yesterday’s giveaway–click here and read about how you can win a coffee mug & journal!
*Winner must have a mailing address within the Continental US*

I am also a recent convert to Southern food loving. 🙂 I grew up in Maryland and had never even heard of half the foods I now love until I was a freshman at Tech. Now I’m hooked!

Looks like an amazing cookbook! I’m super-Southern, so shrimp and grits (and sweet tea and cornbread…) for me.

Love some shrimp and grits when someone else is making it!
Jessamyn
Shrimp and grits definitely!

Hmm, that’s a toss up. Depends on my mood. With a group of people – shrimp and grits. WIth Matt- hamburger. Shrimp and grits are easier to eat with a fork and not get so much food stuck in my teeth. So are southerners more proper?
Lauren Washer
In a group of people, yes!

I think I’m on my way to being a real Southern convert 🙂 I only like shrimp and grits if it’s a really GOOD shrimp and grits. But it’s hard for me to turn down a hamburger 🙂 Sweet tea and cornbread and all other Southern food I’m all for!

I LOVE shrimp and grits. Grew up eating grits for breakfast regularly. Didn’t get to have them with shrimp until I was an adult. So yummy!!
